Willy- Brandt- Platz (Theatre place) is located  to the south west of "Wallanlage". it has the form of a triangle strongly up streamed to the theatre and therefore orthogonally positioned to "Wallanlage" . it breaks through from one side for the pedestrians and bicyclists which is parallel to "wallanlage", on the opposite side comes the train station- city centre.

In the future, this place will only be possible to reach by metros. The metro stations would be consisting of two waiting huts on both opposite sides the rails would be laying on the same surrounding ground level. 

The lighting concept considers all the structuring and orientation criteria of the place as well the  appearance in darkness: the rectangular basic form will be demonstrated by the rhythmetic recurring lights of the upper commander masts. Toward the theatre building lights are alternating with the rechtangular stair landing. These are illuminated from the upper side. The rectangular form of the stair landings differs and would be spatial reduced according to the metro station, waiting halls and parking access. The vertical elements of this building are made of self illuminating material, which is light transparent during the day. 

The lower side of the theatre's arcade is indirectly illuminated which gives the impression, the place is extending through the building.This artistic touch gives the building a much bigger volume and fulfills a communicative function: The limitation between outside and inside will be partly saved, fear that light will be dismantled by a high authorized cultural institute.

The pilaster strips on the building are provided with vertical strip lights, which ends with the arcades' height. The whole place obtains an upside closed form, which is completely defined by light. On the opposite side to the city wall and the high rise of the European central bank, the rectangular form of the building will be high-lighted through two tired stairs up streaming the grove and serving as a sitting place for the visitors facing the theatre house. The bottom edge line of the stair steps are indirectly illuminated. This kind of lighting technique of vertical alignment defines the place at night and gives it a unique harmonious character.

The magical fountain, which is located in the intersection of the city wall and the arcades of the theatre house, will be high-lighted and driven up through self illumintated bottom plates. through this illumination the theme of the fountain will be toned, which is the un earthly fairy like one. 

The unique used light color at willy- Brandt place should be neutral white (4200Kelvin). Through which a clear assertion will be made for Urban identity adverse  the warm yellow lighting of the Old opera building on the opposite side of the old city.
